Make a Wish  has done it again. They have made a little boy's dream come true in a way that no one would have ever imagined. The city of San Francisco was transformed into Batman's Gotham City. About 12,000 volunteers lined the streets of the city in support of the young boy who has been battling cancer since he was twenty months old. He has been in remission since June and all he wanted was to be Batman.
Make a Wish does nothing half way. They organized a city wide rescue mission for the boy. Police Chief Greg Suhr, asked Miles, the young boy, for help in Gotham City. Melinda Haag, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California, and FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson announced formal charges against Riddler and Penguin. Miles even had a Bat Mobile, which was a Lamborghini, to help him get through the mission.
Thousands of viewers swelled with emotion and pride, many said this event "restored their faith in humanity". 230,000 tweets and 19,000 pictures came up under the hashtage "SFBatKid". This day brought all of the United States together, including President Obama, to witness something spectacular. Imagine what the young boy felt as he looked upon the crowd of thousands cheering him on. If a story like this does not bring emotion out of one, then what will?

  1. For one who is a huge Batman fan, I love what San Francisco has done for this little boy. His dreams became reality and who does not want that? Turning San Francisco into Gotham City takes time and I am surprised they did that. That shows how caring they are towards people and will do all it takes to make people happy, like this little boy. I love the article choice, Maria.

  2. I cannot think of anything better to do with my time than be a volunteer at such an event. There is not a day that goes by that we do not hear of atrocities and horrible crimes being committed in our cities. To turn on the news and to see the angelic face of Miles running through the streets of San Francisco and saving the day heroically restores my faith in humanity.

  4. This story is truly incredible and one cannot help but smile thinking about the boy's excitement, who was transformed into batman for the day. It is amazing to see how a community of people came together in order to make this kid's wish possible. Although it is a sad topic, Miles experienced living the life of a superhero for one day, not worrying about his illness. The summary was full of information but not to the point of becoming dull. Amazing and intriguing article choice!

  5. This article is one truly heart warming story. One of the best things in this world is to be the cause of somebody else's happiness. Not only did the Make a Wish Foundation put a smile on this little boy's face, but they made one of his last wishes come true, while alive. I really could not have been more happy for Miles and the amazing crimes he battled in San Francisco that day, as Batman. Great job Maria!

  6. I absolutely agree with those who state that their faith in humanity has been completely restored. Fulfilling a cancer-battling child’s one wish of being his favorite superhero is ultimately touching and emotional. The tenderness and genuinity of this story is literally palpable, to all those with a sensitive side. The utmost respect is deserved to the Make A Wish Foundation. Splendid work, Maria!
